REPORT VOL.01

A piano colored by imagination, delivering inspiration and the seeds of music.

Katsurazaka Nursery School, Kyoto

The “Piano no Tane” (Seeds of Music) project was launched to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Kawai Musical Instruments. For our first report, we visited a nursery school surrounded by the lush nature of Kyoto. A very special piano—wrapped in artwork drawn by the children with boundless creativity—has finally been delivered to its new home.

Seeds of Free Imagination: Capturing the things they love.

“I have always loved music, and I wanted the children to experience that same joy,” says one of the teachers. The inspiration to apply for this project came from the children's everyday lives, where they naturally enjoy singing and drawing.

The artwork adorning the piano features things the children are currently passionate about—basketball, daily walks, and even the cymbals they played during their school recital. Each element was drawn with uninhibited freedom and vibrant energy.

Gasps of Admiration: The big reveal.

On the day of the unveiling, a chorus of "Wow!" broke out even among the teachers as the veil was lifted. “We couldn't have imagined what the final result would look like, and we have been waiting so eagerly. We knew if we adults were this happy, the children would be even more surprised.”

The moment the children finally saw and touched the piano, their faces lit up with radiant smiles—a moment that made all the preparation worthwhile. Former graduates also gathered for the occasion, filling the school with the warmth of a happy reunion.

Being the “Spark” that enriches lives through music.

“Music is something that enriches life—it heals you when you are sad and gives you courage when you want to do your best.”

The teachers hope this piano will become more than just a musical instrument. They see it as a symbol of aspiration for the younger students, who look forward to the day they are old enough to play it. We believe the seeds of music planted here today will continue to bring color to these children's lives ten or twenty years into the future.
